LPKF, a leading manufacturer of laser and electronic systems, announces the launch of a new blog and resource site about laser plastic welding. Located at www.laserplasticwelding.com, the Web site is an extension of LPKF Laser & Electronics, and introduces and educates both engineers and designers about the latest laser plastic welding information.

An outstanding example of close co-operation between science and busi-ness: the Laser Welding Division of LPKF Laser & Electronics AG (LPKF) celebrates its 10th anniversary in July. In 2001, LPKF and former staff of the Bavarian laser centre established LaserQuipment AG, which subse-quently merged in 2005 with LPKF to form a separate business division.

The LPKF Application Center expands its production range: The new clean room in Erlangen, Germany started operations at the end of 2010. LPKF LaserWelding uses it for welding-process evaluations, especially for particularly sensitive plastic products.

Laser welding of plastic is gaining strongly in importance. LPKF Laser & Electronics AG showcases products from the recently inaugurated clean room: the presentations at MEDTEC Europe are in Hall 8 on Stand 8263.
